Current season honey

Current season honey
This is our range of honeys harvested during the 2023 / 2024 season. We initially thought it was going to be a fantastic season in terms of yield but we ended with a lower yield with fantastic flavours. We got some good yields from our top sites but, in some cases, we only got around 20kg from some sites (and less from some). We've released our lower yield honeys in limited release 250g jars to reflect its uniqueness.
  • NEW Aristaeus 2024 Magpie Valley honey
    Limited release.

Harvested in March 2024, our Magpie Valley honey is from east of Waipukurau in Central Hawke's Bay and named after the ridiculous number of magpies I see when I visit the site.

Nectar sources include red clover, white clover, blackberry and thistle.

Despite being harvested at the same time and from the same site, some of the jars are just starting to crystalise (July 2024).

Available in 250g jars and as part of our gift box selection.
    NZ$ 9.50 250g glass jar
  • NEW Aristaeus 2024 Twyford honey
    Limited release.

Harvested in March 2024. Our first harvest from a Twyford orchard in Hastings, an area dense in fruit trees. Another runny honey with a fantastic floral taste. Another one of my 2024 favourites.

Available in 250g jars and as part of our gift box selection.
    NZ$ 9.50 250g glass jar
  • NEW Aristaeus 2024 Seventy Mile Bush honey
    Limited release.

    Harvested in March 2024.

Technically our second harvest form this site on the outskirts of Dannevirke in CHB, but we only got 12 jars off the site last year, so this one's a bit exciting. The site is located in a bit a valley and is surrounded by native trees which has produced an exceptional flavour.

Still runny in the jar, and it seems to be a sticky honey, definitely my favourite from this year.

Seventy Mile Bush was a heavily forested area of New Zealand, extending from Wairarapa to Central Hawkes Bay and out to that coast. It was cleared and settled by Scandinavians, assisted immigrants in the 1870s.

The area encompasses what are now the towns of Norsewood, Dannevirke, Pahiatua and Eketāhuna in the Tararua District and reached right into Hawkes Bay to the outskirts of Takapau and Maraekakaho.

Available in 250g jars and as part of our gift box selection.
    NZ$ 9.50 250g glass jar
  • NEW Aristaeus 2024 Estella Winter honey
    Limited release.

Harvested in March 2024 but from nectar collected over the 2023 winter, our Estella honey is from home base on my parent's kiwifruit orchard in Meeanee, Napier and named after my great grandparents house in Kennedy Road (back when people named their homes).

It's a much darker honey than our Estella variety and I have no idea of the floral source. Still runny in the jar as at July 2024.

Available in 250g jars and as part of our gift box selection.
    NZ$ 9.50 250g glass jar
  • NEW Aristaeus 2024 Paratu Forest honey
A clover-type honey harvested in March 2024 from a farm forest site south east of Waipukurau in Central HB. Our second harvest from this site.

One of our lightest honeys from this year as far as colour goes, and reasonably sweet compared to our others.

Still runny in the jar (August 2024).

Available in 500g jars, as well as part of our gift box selection.
    NZ$ 14.00 each
  • NEW Aristaeus 2024 Kereua Stream honey
A clover-type honey harvested in March 2024 from a lifestyle block site in Broadlands, Taupo. Named after the stream that runs through the back of the property.

Similar to last year's honey, but with a little more flavour from the native bush behind the hives as well as clover. Probably our sweetest tasting honey and one of the lightest in colour.

Still runny in the jar (July 2024).

Available in 1kg tubs, 500g jars and as part of our gift box selection.
  • NEW Aristaeus 2024 Old Taupo Road honey
A clover blend honey harvested in February 2024 from a farm site west of Tokoroa in the Waikato. In the absence of a unique landmark in the area for an awesome name, it's named after the road the site is on.

It has what I would call a "mid range flavour", meaning it's a good all-round honey.

Despite being harvested at the same time and from the same site, some of the jars are just starting to crystalise (July 2024) - but with a texture similar to creamed honey.

Available in 1kg tubs, 500g jars and as part of our gift box selection.
  • NEW Aristaeus 2024 Estella honey
Harvested in March 2024, our Estella honey is from home base on my parent's kiwifruit orchard in Meeanee, Napier and named after my great grandparents house in Kennedy Road (back when people named their homes).

It has an awesome flavour and, while I can't guarantee the source nectar, there was a pretty diverse range of nectar available, including clover, mellow, fucshia, squash, gum, thistle, comfrey, box thorn and bottlebrush.

Despite being harvested at the same time and from the same site, some of the jars are just starting to crystalise (July 2024) - but with a texture similar to creamed honey.

Available in 1kg tubs, 500g jars and as part of our gift box selection.
  • NEW Aristaeus 2024 Maungatautari honey
Sourced from around Lake Karapiro by Cambridge, harvested in February 2024 and our second harvest from this site. Named after the region it's from.

Definitely our darkest pasture honey, and has the most flavour.

Despite being harvested at the same time and from the same site, some of the jars are just starting to crystalise (July 2024).

Available in 1kg tubs, 500g jars and as part of our gift box selection.
